Waxing Short Course

Waxing is an easy and effective method of removing large amounts of hair at one time. Wax is heated to allow it to be spread easily over the skin in the direction of hair growth. The hair becomes embedded in the wax, which cools and firms up grasping the hair. The wax is then quickly pulled off in the opposite direction of the hair growth, pulling the hairs out of the follicles.

What You Will Learm

Eye Brow Waxing

Waxing eyebrows is the perfect method to shape eyebrows, it is very popular technique in designing even brows because it’s fairly quick and can last weeks.
Types of wax that can be used are:

Cream waxes are a gentle type of wax, so it works well in the delicate, sensitive eye areas. Heated wax is going to grab onto the hair much more, than cold wax strips, and give much smoother results also.

  1. Decide on the shape of your brows. Using a white pencil liner to colour in
the hairs that need to be removed can help you shape and wax the correct
hairs that need to be removed.
  2. Pull or pin-back hair. You want to see your eyebrows clearly, and not get any
    wax in your hair.
  3. Trim eyebrows if necessary. Brush your eyebrows straight up, and make even
out the hairs of your natural shape on top, then you need to
    trim any uneven brow hairs.
  4. Cleanse eyebrow area. Use pre-wax cleanser on eyebrows and surrounding
skin, and then apply a light dusting of powder with a cotton swab. Don’t overdo it on the powder.
  5. Apply wax evenly in the direction of hair growth using applicator to the hair shaping the underneath of your brow
  6.  Apply strip to wax in the direction of hair growth, leaving some leftover strip at the end not attached to hair like a tab. Press and firmly smooth hand over strip in the direction of hair growth a couple times, to ensure wax is attaching to hair and has slightly cooled.
  7.  Grasp onto the end of strip that isn’t attached to hair. Hold skin taut with one hand, and remove strip in opposite direction of hair growth in one quick pull, all the way to the other side. Do not pull up, as this will cause more pain. Press hand down on skin to help relieve some of the pain, after strip is removed.  If a little bit of wax with hair remains, simply put strip back on hair and pull off.
  8. Clean up missed hairs. Use tweezers to remove any hairs missed by the wax, and complete the shape.
  9. Remove any remaining residue, with wax remover.
  10.  Apply after-wax lotion, or an aloe based lotion or gel.

Tip:

Practice using the wax on a small part of your body, like your arm so you get
the feel of it. Always test small amount of wax on hand before waxing
eyebrows, to make sure it’s warm, not hot.

  5. Repeat. Work your way waxing the bikini area, repeating steps 4 and 5.
  6.  Use tweezers to remove any hairs missed by the wax.

Waxing facial hair is common, quick and easy, and can last weeks at a time if performed the right way. Hot wax and specifically cream wax heated in a pot will minimize redness.
Great for delicate facial skin because it’s one of the gentlest waxes, it’s also easier to work with than honey waxes because of its less sticky consistency. While the cold wax strips seem like less work, they don’t grab onto the hair as well as heated wax.

  1. Facial hair needs to be at least ½ cm long.
  2. Pull or pin-back hair. You don’t want your hair in the way or end up getting wax in it.
  3. Wash hands.
  4. Cleanse facial area. Wash face to rid makeup and oil, pay dry and then apply a pre-wax cleanser. Lightly dust powder on area to be waxed.
  5. Apply wax evenly in the direction of hair growth using applicator, remove hair in small sections.
  6. Apply strip in the direction of hair growth, leaving some leftover strip at the end not attached to hair like a tab.
Don’t pull up, Press hand down on skin to help relieve some of the pain, after strip is removed. If a little bit of wax with hair remains, simply put strip back on hair and pull off.
  8. Repeat. Continue with steps 6-8 working in sections until you have removed unwanted hair. Don’t apply wax over the same area twice or you can burn or severely irritate your skin.
  9. Clean up missed hairs. Use clean tweezers to remove any hairs missed by the wax.
  10. Clean wax off skin. Remove any remaining residue, with wax remover, baby oil or petroleum jelly.
